The first 'veiled head'
Victorian UK halfcrown
was minted in 1893, and
the last in 1901.
The obverse features the
older Victoria, facing left,
adorned with jewellery,
wearing a tiara and veil.
The reverse shows a crowned shield with coats of arms
inside an ornate design, with the date below.
Victoria was the longest reigning British monarch at
nearly 64 years, until topped by Elizabeth II in 2015.

Victoria married Albert in 1840. The pair had 9

across Europe. The Victorian era was one of

science, culture, and politics. Victoria entered a
protracted period of mourning following Albert's
