and were circulated under all
monarchs up to Edward VII,
except William IV.
The first circulation issue
United Kingdom era British
crown was minted in 1818,
and the last in 1902.
The United Kingdom crown obverse features the monarch
of the time, encircled by a legend describing their titles.
Early reverse designs show Saint George mounted,
slaying the dragon.
The Victorian 'young head' reverse shows
a crowned shield in a wreath.
The reverse changes back to St. George from
the 'jubilee head' onwards.
