The 1816 United Kingdom halfcrown reverse shows
the UK coat of arms inside a crowned garter with the
Anglo-Norman motto of the British chivalric Order of
the Garter, 'HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE'.
The surrounding legend reads:
'BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:'
Shield quadrants show three lions representing
England, one lion representing Scotland, and a harp
representing Ireland. In the center is a crowned shield
with the Hanoverian arms.
