colonial use, specifically
in Malta.
The first circulation issue
UK third farthing was
minted in 1827, and the
last in 1913.
The United Kingdom third farthing obverse features the monarch
of the time, encircled by a legend describing their titles.
Two reverse types were used, the earlier showing Britannia
seated, and the latter showing the words 'ONE THIRD
FARTHING' below a crown, surrounded by a wreath.
1 third farthing = 1/3 of a farthing
= 1/12 of a penny = 1/144 of a shilling
= 1/2,880 of a pound
