minted in 1902, and the last
in 1910.
The King Edward VII era United Kingdom halfpenny obverse
features the bare head of Edward VII, facing right.
The reverse shows Britannia seated facing right, wearing a
helmet, and holding a trident. Her other hand rests on a shield
bearing the Cross of Saint George.
The words 'HALF' and 'PENNY' are in the fields, and the date
is in the exergue below.
Albert Edward became King after the death
of his mother, Queen Victoria, in 1901, having
been 'heir apparant' for 59 years.
Deciding to reign under 'Edward VII', he was
received very well as king.
