shows an inner beaded circle with the words

'ONE PENNY' between two scrolls.

The legend reads: 'COMMONWEALTH

OF AUSTRALIA', with the date below.

primary varieties: 'no dots',

'dot below bottom scroll', 'dot above bottom scroll',

'dot above top scroll', and 'double dot'.

Scarce obverse variants exist for some of the above.
